The Central Serengeti witnesses a remarkable migration of herds searching for fresh water and new grass between March and June. For an exclusive and thrilling experience, visit the Western Corridor of the Serengeti, where you might get a chance to witness the Grumeti River Crossing, which is distinct from the Mara Crossings in the North of the Serengeti and typically occurs in August/September. This extraordinary adventure includes high-end accommodation options, where you’ll be treated to unmatched service, exceptional food and wine, and expert guidance for your safari.
March, April, May, and June offer a unique opportunity to witness this natural spectacle.
Upon arrival at JRO Kilimanjaro airport, our driver will meet you and transfer you to your Arusha hotel. Based on your flight schedule, we can organize extra activities such as a city tour, coffee plantation tour, bike ride, visit to Lake Duluti, or a half-day game viewing experience in Arusha National Park. You’ll be served dinner at the lodge, where you can relax amidst lush gardens and a swimming pool, getting ready for an early wake-up call the following day.
Before your private tour of Tarangire National Park within the Chem Chem Concession, you’ll have breakfast at the hotel. You’ll have a personal vehicle at your disposal for the next few days, allowing you to move around quickly as you explore the park. The transfer to Chem Chem Lodge takes approximately 2.5 hours, and upon arrival, you can settle in before the afternoon game activity. You can discuss your itinerary with your guide and plan your day’s activities. At Chem Chem Lodge, you’ll be surrounded by savannah grasslands, watering holes, and an expansive salt pan. The lodge offers a sophisticated level of comfort, space, and privacy, providing an exceptional opportunity to connect profoundly with wildlife and nature.
Your safari guide will meet you after breakfast for the next leg of your journey, which will involve driving to Lake Manyara National Park. This park boasts a variety of habitats, including a Rift Valley soda lake, dense woodlands, and steep mountainsides. With over 400 bird species, you can observe pink flamingos along the shores of Lake Manyara. Additionally, you can spot buffalo herds, Masai giraffes, and impalas while game viewing. Enjoy a few hours of game viewing and a light picnic lunch before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim for dinner at your camp, Entamanu. This luxury camp, situated on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, derives its name from the Maa language of the Maasai people, which means ‘circle.’
Early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater allows uninterrupted game viewing in Africa’s largest intact caldera and the world’s largest inactive and unfilled volcanic caldera, formed 2.5 million years ago. Due to the caldera’s unique geological features, it sustains a diverse range of flora and fauna. With a high concentration of herbivores, including wildebeest and zebras, the caldera offers the ideal hunting ground for the Big Five – lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo. A packed picnic-style lunch is provided before returning to camp, after which you can continue to explore the caldera’s features, including the volcanic ash and salt flats.
After completing your safari, you must head back to Manyara and say goodbye to your guide before taking a flight to the Grumeti Airstrip. From there, you’ll be transferred to a secluded lodge located in the remote western region of the Serengeti National Park. This area has several lodges, providing a more intimate and exclusive experience. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in two daily game drives where you’ll have the chance to encounter various wildlife, such as considerable lion pride, hyena clans, resident plains game herds, and the unique black-and-white colobus monkeys that can only be found in the area. If you visit from March to June, you might witness splinter herds from the Great Migration gathering in the western corridor before moving north. The lodge features spacious decks perfect for enjoying sundowners and a rim-flow swimming pool that overlooks seasonal hippo pods. Due to its proximity to water, you can see abundant wildlife day and night.
On the last day of your safari, you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast in the camp and a leisurely drive to the airstrip. Depending on your onward journey, you can bid farewell to your safari guide and take the scheduled flight to JRO airport. We can arrange a day room nearby, provide leisure time for check-in, or extend your safari to Kenya’s Maasai Mara to enhance your game-viewing experience—you consider combining your adventure with a South Tanzania park.
