When you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, you’ll be greeted with a warm Tanzanian welcome. After that, you’ll be taken to Moshi without delay. You’ll have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for your upcoming trek. In the evening, a comprehensive briefing will be held to ensure you are well-prepared for the adventure. You’ll be staying at the comfortable Sal Salinero Hotel for the night.
After breakfast, drive for 3-4 hours around Mt. Kilimanjaro’s northwestern side to reach Nalemoru Gate. Register and distribute luggage among porters. Hike for 3-4 hours through fields, forests, and mountain zones, with a chance to spot black and white colobus monkeys. Spend the night at Simba Camp surrounded by Kilimanjaro’s natural beauty.
Today’s trek takes you through the enchanting heather and moorland zones, which offer sweeping views of Mawenzi and the vast Kenyan steppes. After hiking, you will take a well-deserved lunch break at the Second Cave (3,450 m). Following that, you will continue your journey through undulating terrain until you reach the tranquil Kikelewa Camp. As you climb higher, the lush Senecien vegetation will gradually give way to a more barren landscape marked by occasional rock formations. If the weather is favorable, you will get breathtaking views of the Kibo and Mawenzi summits and Kenya’s Kanya savannah grasslands. After passing some impressive rock formations, you will reach Mawenzi Hut. For many climbers, this camp has a particularly enchanting atmosphere.
The current phase of yoToday’sney will take you over the Kibo Saddle on a relatively uncomplicated route. This terrain is recognized for its limited vegetation, with only a few sturdy grasses and plant species that can flourish in the arid, high-altitude conditions. You will traverse a final rocky passage just before reaching your destination today. Upon arrivalyou’llwill be greeted by the Kibo Hut, which offers a serene atmosphere for tomorrow and mental preparation for the summit stage that awaits you tomorrow.
The summit push typically starts at midnight and involves a 7-hour trek across Frocrater ‘sanic ash to reach Gillman’s Point (5,715 m) on the crater’s edge. As the sun rises, it will provide some warmth as you “Africa’sfor a”another 1 to 2 hours until you reach the peak of Uhuru – “Africa’s Roof”. The descent follows a similar route, but the thawed lava ash makes it easier to myou’llfter arriving back at Kibo Hut by late morning, you’ll have a chance to rest and refuel before continuing to Horombo Hut.
Upon completion of the 5 to 6-hour descent, you will arrive at the Marangu Gate in the early afternoon. At this time, it will be necessary to bid farewell to the committed mountain crew. Following this, a brief transfer will transport you back to the Sal Salinero Hotel, where you may refresh with a warm shower and commemorate your exceptional accomplishment.
The remarkable experience of your Kilimanjaro expedition draws to a close with a hearty breakfast, after which you will be transported to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure. Alternatively, you can indulge in a thrilling safari or extend your stay by unwinding on Tanzania’s serene beaches.
